Driver
Description

The Driver will be responsible for verifying accuracy of loaded material against Bill of Lading, transporting load(s) to the customer/target location in a safe and timely manner and may unload shipment(s) upon arrival using a company-assigned truck.  The Driver must remain highly focused on safety and represent the company through professional and courteous interactions at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload truck either individually or with assistance of dockworkers (mechanical freight handling equipment may be used where available and appropriate); verify loads for accuracy
  • Drive a commercial vehicle safely while picking up and delivering general freight
  • Drive straight truck in accordance with federal regulations, including driver’s logs and other records required by law
  • Provide excellent customer service in representation of Company
  • Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and Company policy.
  • Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed
  • Ensure that vehicle is kept clean at all times
  • Occasionally drive out-of-state for short trips as business needs dictate
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle
  • May occasionally assist with miscellaneous warehouse tasks (e.g., cycle counts, product/quality inspection, sweeping)
Qualifications

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School diploma
  • At least two (2) years of verifiable, incident-free driving experience driving a Class B commercial motor vehicle
  • Knowledge of the Twin Cities geographic area preferred

Competencies

  • Must possess a valid Class B CDL
  • Must have and maintain acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Ability to follow clear and concise directions
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift over 75 pounds
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift, bend, twist, walk and reach frequently
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of car mechanics and maintenance
  • Must meet Federal DOT medical certificate requirements
